En fait chaque livre peut très bien être lu indépendamment des autres puisqu'il ne s'agit pas d'une saga à épisodes mais d'une suite de romans.

La raison pour laquelle on conseil de les lire dans l'ordre c'est que l'univers et les personnages sont les mêmes d'un livre à l'autre. En conséquence il vaut mieux faire leur connaissance au fur et à mesure étant donné qu'ils évoluent.

Le Guet est effectivement situé au milieu de la série mais c'est un livre qui met en scène une volée de nouveaux personnages pour la première fois. Ce n'est donc pas un problème de commencer par sa lecture d'autant que dans l'absolut c'est un de mes préféré (sinon le meilleur).
